There were many instances when I was discouraged and embarrassed as a child to attend school. It was because my parents couldn’t afford the necessities my siblings and I needed to attend school. Simple things such as a notebook, a uniform or a pair of sneakers. I felt that I was robbed of the opportunity to achieve my dreams. Luckily, my dream of coming to the states came to fruition. Now that I have done enough in life and am happy and contented, I feel that this is the right time for me to take a step back to make a difference in every child’s life in our community who shares the same experience as my childhood.
